That's Gazzelle's owner Dave Gazzelle (right) with Angie Bowie. Dave can really help a guy or a girl out when it comes to hot fashions.

T3 set designer Eric Luling - should have done Jamie's car.

Betty Jack's Track Yack: The California 500

Welcome gay Nascar fans! I hope everyone had a nice holiday -- I sure did! And now it feels great to get back to racing, doesn't it?

This week at the California Speedway, DeVine 91/2 racer Kurt Busch became the season's first two-time winner in a race that was wildly exciting from the first green flag! At the end of the day, DeVine 91/2 team members shoved their way into five of the top ten spots, and they held down six of the top 10 points positions! Go, y'all speed racers, go!

One of our guys, Ryan Newman, got taken out in the very first lap when pole sitter Steve Park got wobbly and pushed the #12 into the wall. Park spun around like an empty tequila bottle on a frozen driveway and everybody was lucky to get around him. It was really sad for him, because he's never really come back from that bad crash some years back. And it was another early finish for Ryan, who has been taking some major hits early. Also out before the end was Tony Stewart, who took the bonus for most laps led before he threw a rod.

You know, we love all our guys, but we are just buck wild about Jamie McMurray in the #42, and honey was this a good day for that team! Jamie marched from 25th pole position up to the lead! Oh, how we shouted out on our porch! As Jamie zoomed past car after car, we decided it was essential for us to do shots and help push him along! Started with tequila; went on to Maker's; oh Jamie, how we tried to help!

Jamie was still leading late in the race, but on the final restart with 14 to go, his car just did not jump up like the others. If the final run had been a long one, I don't think those other cars could have caught him. But anyway, it was a great race for Jamie, and also for winner Kurt Busch, who is really working hard to dispel Dixie Richardson's saying that "the Sharpie car always tears up!"

WELCOME, GAZZELLE'S!

This week on Gaytona.com we are delighted to introduce our first advertiser -- Gazzelle's! Run by one of my most gorgeous and fabulous friends, the hyper-sexy Dave Gazzelle, this little shop is becoming THE place to find fabulosity in the ATL! Dave features the hottest clubwear in regular to big sizes, and people are talking about it all over town! Stop by or call today and let Dave and his friendly staff (oh, yes!) do you right! And tell him you saw it on Gaytona.com!

"IT'S THE CLASSIC SUCK AROUND THE BACK END, DICK!"

The above is exactly what Darryl Waltrip, 3x Winston Cup Champion said Sunday when somebody passed somebody else late in the race. I know that's what he said because I wrote it down right away, and everyone else here heard it -- even though we were all immediately screaming and hollering and rolling on the porch! Granted, we had been "helping Jamie" all afternoon, but DW still said it,and that's why he is the Super King Dick Pharaoh of all the racing announcers!

McBAIN CLIMBS ON THE 42!

Even though we are way scared of his weird "Austrian" politics, it was fun to see Arnold Schwarzenegger wave the green flag at Sunday's race. He was interviewed beforehand along with Jamie McMurray, who's #42 car is partially sponsored by the new movie "T3, the Rise of the Machines" What's crazy, though, is that we never did see the ad on the car. Jeanie Zelasco was funny when she got Arnold to say "Boogity, boogity, boogity" -- which of course he made sound really threatening.

We heard that Arnold made "T3" in California instead of somewhere cheaper because he wants to be elected governor of that state! Can you imagine? A big shout-out to my friend Eric Luling who is the set designer on "T3" An Oscar for you hound dog!

WELCOME, HELENB!

Y'all will remember when I recently expressed joy at hearing from HelenB, the sister of my college bud Harris, who is a major Nascar fan who looks at Gaytona.com over in North Carolina. Well, bless her heart, Helen sent me some wonderful observations about Nascar from the perspective of an African-American race fan! I'm sure you will find her thoughts quite entertaining and provocative, as I did. It's an excellent start-off for Gaytona's new Special Reports section. Thank you Helen -- happy racing to you and Tony!

That's all I've got today. Thanks for stopping by my humble track shack -- have a great week, and let's all get together at Richmond on Saturday night!

Love,
Betty Jack DeVine
